Working parallel to this is our drive for high standards. Through creating a supportive and nurturing school, children really have a passion for learning. YEAR 6 ISLE OF WIGHT TRIP SEPT 18

Thursday 13th Sept

Last full day and excitement is brewing - who is going to the disco with who?? Gladrags are being washed and ironed...or rather rescued from a crumpled heap of clothing in an overflowing suitcase on the floor!

Lots more opportunities today to face our fears with ‘Abseiling’ and the ever-popular ‘Zipwire’, as well as dusting off the ol’ grey matter in ‘Problem Solving’. Here’s one - how many odd socks can we find in the children’s cabins?

Wednesday 12th Sept

Behold the miracle! By 10pm last night, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds, while teachers were nursing their tired heads...

Lots of bright eyes and bushy tails this morning, ready for another action-packed day of climbing, cat-walking, abseiling, climbing up the elusive ‘Jacob’s’ ladder and reinacting the 3 musketeers in ‘Fencing’. And what better meal to end a great day - chicken nuggets and potato wedges (obviously with a large healthy salad on the side...).

And to top off another great day? Let’s put some pants on our heads and run around in Wacky Races...

Tuesday 11th Sept

First full day of activities and we have rolled around in mud in ‘Sensory Trail’, crawled through mud in ‘Tunnel Trail’, climbed over mud in ‘Challenge Course’...you get the theme...thrown ourselves off trapezes, screamed our way through the air on giant swings and bounced ourselves to exhaustion in Aeroball...and that’s just the teachers! Of course, we would have been foolish to think that the the children would be all nicely tired out from an active day of harnesses and helmets - oh no, they’ve been to the tuckshop and are raring to go with an evening of singalongs around the campfire! A very popular night which the PGL staff are brilliant at running. Fingers crossed they’ll all be ready for beddy byes afterwards...?!

Monday 10th Sept

A great start to our Year 6 residential trip. The weather is great, the children are fed and watered, and they are now currently hiding in bushes trying to outwit each other in a cunning game of Ambush. Having had to clarify a number of times that brightly coloured leggings and t-shirts do not constitute ‘dark hiding colours’, I don’t hold out much hope...

A very smooth journey down and fantastically warm welcome from the PGL staff (as always) have set us up for a cracking week of fun and excitement and all the children are grinning from ear to ear. Check out the happy campers in their posiest poses...I’ve never seen so many ‘slider and sock’ combos in my life...
