Dear Nursery children,

This weekend you need to practise washing your hands. Remember to sing happy birthday as you wash your wrists, Tommy Thumb, Peter Pointer, Toby Tall, Ruby Ring and Baby Small. Remember to wash all of your hand, including the palms and the back of your hand. It is so important that you catch your coughs and sneezes and that you put tissues that you use in the bin.

You can choose what you want to put into your Home-Wow book, this week.

Have a good weekend

Dear Nursery children,

What fabulous costumes you wore for World Book Day yesterday. It was great to see you all dressed as a word. This week you have not been given your Home-Wow Book. You have received a paper with lots of stars that contain reading challenges on it. This week I challenge you to complete and tick as many stars as you can.

Remember, this week we have been learning about what Jesus said to his friends "I love you and I want you to love one another." Lent is a time when we grow in love. How are you going to grow in love? By helping, sharing, being kind, caring...

Happy weekend

Dear Nursery children,

Thank-you for sharing your half term adventures in your Home -wow book, this week. I really enjoyed reading about what you did. Some of the children talked to me about what they had been up to and the photos that had been stuck in to their books. It was great to see them having fun whilst exploring.

This week we have been learning about the sound 'p'. Whilst you are out and about this week see if you can find anything that begins with this sound. For example plant, pan, panda, pom pom, pear... How many things will you find? Can you draw a picture of what you find? maybe you can try to label the picture by writing the letter p at the start.

Can I please remind grown-ups that it is your child's book and that I want to see your child's work as well as your writing.

Have fun

Dear Nursery children,

It was lovely reading about your favourite story in your Home-Wow books. Remember to keep on sharing stories at home, talking about what you like, what you don't like, what is seen and happening, about the illustrations and maybe you could make up different endings.

Next week is half term, share your holiday news in your Home-Wow book.

Have a great rest over the half term.

Dear Nursery children,

I love sharing books with you and talking about the pictures in the stories that we read. This weekend I want you to share your favourite story with your grown-up and talk about what you can see happening in the pictures. What is your favourite story? What happens in your favourite story? Do you like the pictures? What do you like about the pictures? Is there anything that you don't like? Can you spot any of the letters from your name in the book that you have chosen? Tell us about your favourite book in your Home-wow book.

Happy reading

Dear Nursery children,

This week we have been looking for objects that begin with the sound 's'. This weekend I want you to spend some time looking for socks and doing some careful counting. Can you find any spotty socks? Have you got any socks with stripes? Who has the most socks in your home? How many socks do you have? Can you find any smelly socks? Who has the smelliest socks?

Happy sock hunting and remember to count carefully.

Dear Nursery children,

Thank-you for sharing your photos from your Baptism. I am keeping your book in school this weekend so that I can spend time preparing a display, with your photos, so that they can be shared with your friends.

This week I want you to practice your cutting skills, using child friendly scissors. Maybe your grown-up could draw some straight lines that you can cut along, or they could draw you some shapes to cut around. You might have some old magazines or catalogues that you could cut pictures out of. If you have play-dough you could use the scissors to make smaller pieces or you could cut up strips of paper into smaller pieces.  Maybe you can make a lantern, like we did in school this week whilst learning about Chinese New Year

Happy snipping

Dear Nursery children,

Over the next few weeks we will be learning about Baptism. Please can you talk to your grown-up about when you were Baptised. Where did you get Baptised? Do you have your candle? What does it look like? Did you wear anything special? Who was at your Baptism? What happened at your Baptism? Have you got any photos that you can stick into your book?

Have a great weekend

Dear Nursery children,

This week we have been learning about the journey that the three Kings (Magi) made when they followed a star. Can you tell your grown-up all about it? The three gifts brought baby Jesus some special gifts. I want you to imagine that you are one of the three Kings making the special journey. What special gift would you give to Jesus and why? Maybe you could draw a picture of your special gift and ask your grown-up to write down what you say about it.

Have a good weekend

Dear Nursery children,

What a busy term we have had. You have been superstars and deserve to have a very Happy Christmas. In your Home-wow this week I have stuck in a photo of the Nativity set that we have had in Nursery. Ask your grown-up to write down what you say as you talk about the photo. Who can you see in the photo? Why is the baby so special? Why do we celebrate Christmas? What did the Angel Gabriel say to Mary and the Shepherds?

Have a brilliant Christmas and I hope that Father Christmas is good to you and brings what you wished for!

Dear Nursery children,

This weekend you have not taken home your 'Home-Wow' book instead you have been given a letter about a Secret Santa. That is your challenge this weekend. I am aware that some of you are not in school today so you will have to collect your letter on Monday.

Dear Nursery children,

Well done on such a fabulous performance last Sunday, you should feel very proud of yourself. Give yourself a big pat on the back.

Over the next three weeks we will be learning about a very special birthday.

Over this weekend I would like you to talk about the day you were born with your grown-up. Did you know that each year you celebrate this very special day, it's your birthday. How did your grown-up feel on the day you were born? Have you got a photo of you on this extra-special day? Maybe you could put one into your book.

Also, talk to your grown-up about your last birthday. Did you have a cake? How many candles did you have to blow out? How did you celebrate? Did you have a party? What presents did you receive? Have you got a photo or could you draw a picture?

Please can I remind grown-ups that the children are expected to make their own marks and that you are to scribe for them.

Have a great weekend,

I really enjoyed reading about how you show that you are kind and the amazing things that you do. This weekend I would like you to share some weekend news. Talk to your grown-up about what you have done and draw a picture.

See you on Sunday

What can you tell your grown-up about the story 'The Runaway Chapati'? Can you draw a picture of what you remember? Where does the Chapati run through? What animals are in the story? What does the Chapati sing? What happened to the Chapati at the end of the story?

Grown-ups, please write down what your child says.

Dear Nursery children,

This week we have been learning about the Hindu Festival of Lights 'Diwali' maybe you could tell your grown-up about what you remember. Next week we will be doing some Autumnal activities so this weekend it would be great if you could go on an Autumn Walk and collect leaves of different colours, shapes and sizes. What else can you find? Maybe some conkers? Long/short sticks that have fallen in the wind? Pinecones? Acorns? Please, only pick things up that have already fallen off the tree. We need to look after God's creations and if you pull something off the tree you might damage the tree.

Have fun on your Autumn walk

Dear Nursery children,

It's the half term. That means that you get one week away from school.

We hope that you have a fabulous time when you are away from school and it would be great if you could share some of your fun times with us in your 'Home-Wow' book. Maybe you could draw a picture of the best thing that you did? Maybe you could share some photos...

Have a happy, safe holiday

Dear Nursery children,

This week we have been talking about the story of bread. Can you remember the story? From the tiniest seed to a loaf of bread, what happens? Maybe you could use the story the Little Red Hen to help you to remember. Can you make some marks in your book to show us what you remember? Ask your grown-up to write down what you say.

It's very green at the moment. If you want you can decorate the cover of your book with photos/stickers or pictures.

This week I would like you to tell your grown-up about who you like playing with at Nursery and what is your most favourite thing to do when you are at Nursery. Draw a picture in your book and ask your grown-up to write down what you say about the marks that you make.
