Last week, we revisited features of play scripts from year 5 and applied some of the rules of writing play scripts in set tasks.
This week we are going to plan and write a short play script. The angle that we'd like you to follow is to use the people, including your teacher, who are allocated within the same bubble as you. This applies whether you return to school or stay at home, as either way you have still been allocated a bubble.
Using the 16 members of the cast, bubble classmates and your teacher, you are to write a short play script considering where the story of the play is set and what the purpose of the play is. Not every member of the cast has to speak, one may perform an important action to tell part of the story, another could be a living prop on the stage... other members may speak as a group as they share the same idea or want to say the same thing.
Possible settings and contexts:
* Safari trip
* Space trip
* Spy drama or comedy
* Historical period of history - Ancient Egyptians, Victorian era, while Jesus walked the earth (link to his resurrection and ascension), Ancient Rome, one of the world wars and more...
* Murder Mystery
* other ideas...
Resources below will be provided to prompt you with the key features and checklist for writing a play. Remember that you can look back at last week's resources for ideas as well.
You will be expected to provide an opening scene, dramatic scene and closing scene. Link this expectation to a story mountain - introduction and build-up, problem then finished off with a resolution and ending (or cliff hanger).
Have fun and remember perfection isn't the aim, using the key features and creating a story through a play script is more important.
