CAFOD Live Simply Award

The livesimply award is an opportunity for Catholic communities - parishes, schools, religious orders and chaplaincies - to respond to Pope Francis’ invitation in Laudato Si' to “work with generosity and tenderness in protecting this world which God has entrusted to us”.

Our local Labour MP for Ealing, Rupa Huq, came to present our RE Pupil Leaders with the our 'Live Simply' award. Well done to all our staff and children involved in the various projects!

Our RE Pupil Leaders kicked off Fairtrade Fortnight 2020 with a short performance about Fairtrade products, getting us to imagine a world in which we had exhausted the world's cocoa farming - no chocolate! Rupa Huq, MP for Ealing congratulated them on delivering an important message about sustainable farming.

Throughout the last year, our wonderful Penny Alexander has worked with different groups of children across the school to develop a natural dry hedge for our Memorial area, establishing grow patches in the KS1 garden and developing a flower garden using recycled containers. She has led sessions with our Y1 classes on aspects of nature and how we can look after God's beautiful world.

Our team have worked so hard over the year to focus on sustainable projects within our school and local community including collections for Ealing Food Bank and other schools in our Deanery.

In the Spring Term, our RE Pupil Leaders invited elderly parishioners from our school community to come in to school for a tea party and to have a look around our school. They were delighted to be invited and very touched by the warmth of the children.
In the Autumn Term, the children created their own natural art, to celebrate God's beautiful world. We displayed the artwork in our new Prayer Garden.
