Our School's Name

There was much debate over a name for the school. A title of Our Lady was favoured and MOUNT CARMEL was the final decision. MOUNT from the Lourdes Mount property and CARMEL from the second Christian name of the then Cardinal Archbishop of Westminster John CARMEL Heenan. The school also bears his motto ‘UNDER THE SHADOW OF CARMEL’.
