'A very warm welcome to Mount Carmel Catholic School's website. At the heart of Mount Carmel is our very strong Catholic Ethos. We aim for every child to leave here as an ambassador of Christ. Working parallel to this is our drive for high standards. Through creating a supportive and nurturing school, children really have a passion for learning. We hope you feel this from looking around our website.'

Expectations of the year ahead:

Welcome to Year 5! We are so excited for the year ahead and can't wait to share successes each and every child. Outlined are a few expectations we have to ensure we make the most of the upcoming year.

  • We expect all children to have a positive attitude towards learning and give things ago even when they may seem tricky.
  • We expect them to be respectful towards both adults in the school and each other.
  • We hope children aim to become more independent learners using the 5B’s.
  • We expect homework to be completed and brought in every Friday.
  • We expect full uniform to be worn everyday.

Power of Learning:

This half term we are leaning all about the Maya.

Our book for this topic is ‘The Curse of the Maya A truth-seekers story’.

Children will understand what happened where and when during the Mayan times, education, artefacts, what chocolate has to do with the Maya and finally, what legacy they left.
